I am sitting here listening to Joshie talk Jay's ear off. This may not sound like a big deal. Anyone who has been here with me for any time knows Joshie has been vocal for quite a while now thanks to the amazing early intervention speech therapist. But he talks mostly to me and Koti. We have found our common language with him. For me it is "mommy" for Koti it's just this bond they share and her willingness to not always play together but play at the same time. But for Jay it hadn't happened until now. It has been like pulling teeth to get Joshie to talk to his dad. It isn't Jay's fault, he is not home most days, one of us has to work, but he hasn't had the time I have to get to know Joshie's way. I feel bad for him, because Joshie is still largely a puzzle to the man who loves him so that I can see him melt at the slightest bit of attention this little man of wonder pays him.
But now, right now as I type this, they have connected. Jay is playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and Joshie is sitting on the floor next to him with the other controller "playing" along. Remember I mentioned a few posts back that Joshie is a superhero freak. Well they are sitting there talking and "playing" all about good guys and bad guys, missions, falling, climbing and it is music to me. They are talking about everything and nothing but Joshie is loving his dad in the only way he knows how, in sharing his love of superhero adventure.
If anyone ever says to me video games do nothing but cause harm I might punch them, because tonight, over a video game, a man who has only wanted to let his son know he loves him found a way to say it so his son could understand. And even though he thought his son didn't really love him was showered with love from this small boy in the same way.
And I feel so happy for them both!!

That's so cool, Wendy! I'm happy for you guys. :)
To those who say video games do nothing but harm, I say, "UR DOIN IT WRONG."

Ah ha! You've found the secrete! I don't know what it is about boys and video games, but it's the magic bonding solution. Glad to hear they've figured this out too, and have a way to spend quality time together. ;)
