~Like you might think the quite person is snobby when they are really just shy.
~The pretty girl might come of as stuck-up but really just wants someone to see past her skin.
~You might think a person who has some fame or a high position in some group is out of reach to be your friend because you are of a lower position or just an "average Joe" when all they really want is to be themselves and get to know you even be your friend.
~And then there are those you think are so sweet and kind and they turn out to have such major issues that they need help and are not even close to what they try to present themselves as, and that is the worst one because you don't see it coming until you find someone telling you the truth and pop goes that idealistic bubble.
I learned this lesson ten-fold this weekend. Don't get your hopes up for trashy gossip, I wont be giving that out, sorry. (and that begs another posting. how we thirst for the dirt on people, I think it has a lot to do with the media) But this weekend I learned that someone I thought was snobby & standoffish was really just shy and turned out to be a really nice guy. A really pretty girl who on first impression was someone who would never talk to me and to some seemed like a stuck up (I was even warned she was a bit of a not so nice type person) turned out to be really sweet and warm.
These were wonderful discoveries and added two new friends for me to get to know better as time goes on but the biggest lesson/discovery had the most impact and was heart warming and heart breaking and that's the one that will I think have the most life changing effect.
Someone who I thought could never possible want to be my friend (and I do mean friend in the very real way and not the superficial way we use friend as interchangeable with acquaintance) because of things I had heard out right or hinted at. Things like fame or power or position making there a food chain of sorts with those on my level at the bottom of that peeking order. At the same time I had been given information that painted another person from the top of the so-called peeking order as the sweet, loving and wanting to be friends with everyone person.
I learned this past weekend that the former person was very sweet and down to earth. That I was not, in her mind, the bottom of any order and that in fact that there was no order in her mind. She knew me, knew my weight struggle and success and was moved for and proud of me. Not only that but she welcomed me into her home and opened her heart to me and left me feeling like she would like to get to know me better and have me get to know her and be friends. WOW!! It felt great!!
I also figured out that not everyone who comes across as sweet & kind really is. Sad yes, but all in all a valuable lesson.
This has rambled on long enough. I think that a good lesson we can all learn is that while there are many times when people are exactly what we think them to be, many more times our first impressions are not the correct ones. We need to get to know people and make our own conclusions based on our treatment by them and not what others say about them.
Oh and as for the boob honking in the title you dirty dog..you read all this wanting some nasty little bit about boobs didn't you? Well here ya go, your reward. :D
Jay (the hubby if you don't remember who that is) and I were standing outside the kitchen of the apartment we were in with 2 woman friends. One honked the others boobs as part of an ongoing joke of the night. Then apologized to Jay if they were embarrassing him or making him uncomfortable. I laughed at that thinking he is married yes, but he is a guy and what guy would complain about 2 ladies grabbing each others boobs in front of him. And that's pretty much what he said. So one of the two turned to me and honked mine for him.
I got my boobs honked by the new friend mentioned above :) And hey, what's a little boob honking among friends :D
